2007
This month
we welcomed former Australian superbike champion Aaron Slight and his family on
a break to Louth and we've had quite a number of guests on holiday from Holland,
Belgium and a few from Canada.
We're
delighted that All Seasons has been selected for the finals as The Future
Winning Business in Lincolnshire for 2007, check back here later to see how
we get on, the final is on 12th July 2007 at Lincoln University.
Our garden
is looking great despite lots of recent rain and we've got a big crop of
cherries, strawberries, tomato plants and marrows intermixed amongst the roses
and geraniums. The weather forecast for July and August looks promising so let's
hope 2007 ends up a scorcher, remember the one we had in 1976?....
May
2007
Having
been featured in the Dutch magazine Woon, we have now received 100s of enquiries
from Netherlands and Belgium - so much so that we've set up a web page as a one
stop shop to England. Our
online booking system is proving very popular and we're picking up plenty of
bookings from last minute to long range which is keeping us busy. We've
attended a number of meetings including one to improve the quality of
accommodation in the area (Rosebud) and helped organise a new tourism group in
Lincolnshire.
April
2007
On St
Georges day April 23rd it actually got to 24 degrees centigrade - fantastic, we
had a whole week of summer weather albeit 2 months early and then it poured
down! Gave a presentation to the Louth Civic trust on the restoration work we
did when we converted the properties all those years ago - It was a great
evening and gave us a chance to meet others interested in restoration and
Georgian properties.
December 2006
This is always a busy month for us and this year is no exception with a visit to
Belton Woods hotel for Adrians first Directors meeting for Lincolnshire Tourism
(1st Dec). An eventful meeting with public and private sector members,
many old friends and a ride around the grounds on a golf car!
We meet with a photographer from Sunday Telegraph and do a story from the
journalist on the "Georgian Group" awards and we also provide
photographs for "Coast" magazine for next years issue. Deadlines are
fast approaching and we just make the back page for next years Cleethorpes Guide
and also for England in Excellence next mail drop in January 2007. A busy time
indeed for guests as we accommodate a mixture of photographers and shoppers, the
former for the seals and the latter for Lincoln Christmas market and the
Georgian market town of Louth (of course).
Mid December and we welcome Julian Cottell from Quality in
Tourism for an inspection as finalists for the self catering holiday of the year
awards.
Once the guests are all in we have a full house for Christmas
complete with 9 Christmas trees and lots of festive cheer......Happy Christmas
everyone.
November 2006
All Seasons is a haven for tourists all year and even in November
there's plenty to do - click above to view this great video of the seals -

November 2006
As members ourselves, we're delighted to help our campaigners at
"Friends of the Earth" and have a sponsored feature in their quarterly
magazine "Earth Matters" over the next 2 years. As many will know
we're very keen to promote the re-use of redundant buildings which are so prevalent
in our towns and cities and delighted FOE are keen to be associated with our
work.

work
All Seasons is not just about providing quality but also about
promoting quality and because of this Adrian is on the steering group for
The East Lindsey Quality improvement programme, known as Rosebud. This November
Adrian was delighted to be invited along for dinner at South View Hotel in
Skegness to meet with Alan Brittan and talk tourism. Alan was the former chair
at Visit Britain and is now in charge of Quality in Tourism. The dinner proceeded
the "Rosebud" launch on 14th November.
Also this month we were very proud to be invited along to the
Mablethorpe Tourism Forum conference (23rd November at Eagle Hotel) as guests
speakers on quality. Adrian gave a 10 minute "Soap Box" talk on
quality and pricing (standing in at the last minute for Lincolnshire Tourisms
Sarah Gravelles) . It was great day and I met some fabulous "disciples"
of tourism, check out these links for more details.

All Seasons has a long connection with the Wilkinson family, founders
of the motor racing circuit at Cadwell Park just 4 miles from Louth.
It was Charles Wilkinson and his father Mansfield who owned 140 and 142
Eastgate from the 1930s until we bought it in 2003. They used the property
as offices for the racing circuit until 1980 and then hired it out to the
department of transport so it could be used as the East Lindsey driving
standards agency.
The area in and around Louth still has a thriving racing community and Louth
is home to Honda UK racing team. As a motor racing enthusiast myself I
hope you enjoy my new Cadwell Park website with some terrific photos from August
bank holiday 2006. My thanks to Motor Sports vision and Vivaldi motor
racing team for all their help and inspiration. The mechanics from Vivaldi spent
the weekend with us and Lewis and I had a great day and I managed to get some
great shots - thanks guys....

August 2006
South Korea to Louth Lincolnshire
All Seasons welcomed the respected US travel writer Bob Selwitz to
Lincolnshire. He was very impressed with the accommodation and also
Louth - Bob is covering the 400 year story of Captain John Smith and his
Lincolnshire connections. He is well traveled, his last assignment was in
south Korea!.

Tastes of Lincolnshire
We've always tried to introduce our guests to local food and produce so
we're delighted to join the taste of Lincolnshire campaign.
Now officially recognised as ambassadors for local produce, All Seasons
provides free samples to our guests when they arrive. In keeping with the
ideals of the venture we'll provide locally sourced produce, some from
shops in Eastgate and all from Lincolnshire. Enjoy and when
you've finished your samples... go out and buy some more.............

We've a few Lincolnshire producers we can recommend you try on the internet

WiFi internet - It's Fast!
Not just content with installing internet access in all our apartments -
we've installed fast internet access in all apartments.
The first guests to bring their lap tops have all been impressed with the
strength of the signal and also the speed.
Mr Maddock from Shrewsbury told us - "It's been fantastic, much
better than my broadband at home, whilst I've been here I downloaded updates for
my lap top in a few minutes yet at home it would have taken an hour ..
February 2006
Garden Improvements
After a freezing winter the garden looked in need of some TLC and we
set about re-instating it for the spring and summer. The spring display of
bulbs has been delightful and across the road the garden in the Louth
manor house looks equally impressive.
Pride of place for our improvements have been a few choice specimen
plants including a fabulous evergreen magnolia tree.
November 2005
Lincolnshire Tourism Visitor from Netherlands
All Seasons were delighted to receive a letter from Lincolnshire Tourism
after we accommodated a journalist from the Netherlands for the Lincoln
Christmas market. The journalist was delighted with her accommodation when
she stayed in the Ramsgate apartment in December.
It is always a pleasure to receive comments from guests and their sponsors
and this visit was particularly so as we are to be featured in the autumn 2006
edition of the Netherlands publication. The article will also feature Lincoln
Christmas Market and the Donna Nook Seals.
October 2005
WiFi Installation
We now have access to the internet in the lounges of all our apartments for
anyone bringing a wireless lap top with them. This should be of great benefit to
all our guests especially business users who will be able to keep in touch with
emails and the office from the comfort of their apartment.
October 2005
Portrait and landscape prints now complete
At last the new Georgian prints have arrived from the USA and have been framed
by our local framing
shop in Louth. Each print one has been
carefully selected to compliment the existing furnishings of our apartments and
we will have photographs of them in
Ramsgate, Kidgate and Westgate apartments
here very soon.
June 2005
Local Councilor, Margaret Ottaway meets our guests
When guests and close friends of the owners, Arthur and Valerie Pengelly arrived from
Norwich during June they were invited into Margaret Ottaways' house at the
top of Eastgate, Louth. Ironically they were searching for the tourist information
centre and found the next best thing. Margaret is a living information centre
and guide to whats on in Lincolnshire and was kind enough to give them all
they needed including some bus time tables.
Upgate renovation on hold until summer 2006 Getting the
apartments just right has always been an "All Seasons" priority and
because of this Upgate isn't going to be ready until summer 2006. Guests demand the very
best from their accommodation and apartments are only let when they are perfect
- we are sorry for the delay but this attention to detail takes a little time.
Plans for 2006 improvements
Every few months "All Seasons" produce an improvements list and when
the list is exhausted, another list is produced! Improvements ongoing are:-
planting fruit trees and a new brochure and producing our own DVD. "All Seasons" are indebted to Mrs
Needham for photography support for the brochure and website.
5 star and 4 star grading
In June 2005 "All seasons" was inspected by quality in Tourism inspector, Helen Howsam
who inspected us on behalf of Lincolnshire Tourism and
gained 4 and 5 stars for Ramsgate, Kidgate and Westgate apartments. See awards
for more details.
2006 Competition with Georgian Group
"All Seasons" are delighted to be associated with the Georgian Group and look forward to a
year long promotion culminating in sponsoring of the Picture Puzzle
competition. The lucky winner will win a short break at "All Seasons" during 2006.
If you would like to support this charity and enter the competition you
can do so by joining the Georgian group on 020 7529 8923 or visit their website www.georgiangroup.org.uk
Kindred Spirits - Lissan House etc.
Visitors and guests often comment on the huge amount of
restoration work done to convert 140 and 142 Eastgate into apartments. They are
more surprised to learn of "All Seasons" association with other like
minded, though considerably larger projects around the country namely Lissan
House, Saltworks, Victoria
Baths and Mavisbank. Please
lend your support to these restoration projects by visiting their websites,
donating time or money or telling your friends. You can
support "All Seasons" restoration project by booking a shortbreak or
holiday and giving the listed buildings of 140 - 142 Eastgate, Louth a very
useful purpose.
All Seasons Considered by Hollywood Film Crew? When a hotel receives
an enquiry for over 100 nights for 27 members of the media profession it's
likely to course a stir of excitement amongst it's staff. Well "All
Seasons" received such an enquiry from Travel Leads, Edinburgh and it was
with some regret that room couldn't be found for at least one member of the
team............

Tom Hanks is in Lincolnshire UK July and August filming in Lincoln for the
Hollywood blockbuster "The Da Vinci code"
Local News - Louth
3 Improvements in the Town July 2006 Update
1. Spout Yard - This riverside park area just to the north of the town centre is
nearing completion and should be open to the public shortly 2.
Gatherums - Another park receives a spring clean. Improved access and seating
areas are planned with completion due in Autumn 2006 3. Hubbards
Hills - It's not easy to improve on an unspoilt paradise and when plans for a
large scale modernisation of this Victorian riverside walk went to the council
they were swiftly relegated to the bin! Expect a mild series of
alterations and improvements over the next year or so, after all its 100 years
since the beauty spot was donated to the people of Louth so it deserves a centennial
lick of paint.
Museum Opens
As promised the museum opened in March 2006 and we were hot on the heals of the
mayoress to get a first glimpse of Louths' newest attraction. Our verdict - It's
a beautiful museum and well worth visiting. Prices are reasonable at £2 per
adult and guests should allow an hour or 2 to have a good look at the displays.
The Louth flood from the 1920s is particularly interesting and also Browns
panoramic painting of Louth from 1840s.
If it's a wet day why not pop in and visit the museum in the morning before
having lunch and going along to the Louth cinema for an intermission desert of
ice cream!?
Matthew Macfadyen is ex Kidgate Primary School Pupil

Lincolnshire not only features strongly in the filming of Pride and Prejudice
but its leading actor Matthew Macfadyen was brought up in Louth, Lincolnshire.
In the September 17th edition of the Grimsby Evening Telegraph I read a very
interesting article on how he enjoyed his school days at Kidgate primary and how
he loved spending his youth in Louth. Apparently he takes after his mum in the
acting department as she (Meinir) was a member of the Louth Playgoers Theatre
group and was also a teacher in Louth at Monks Dyke school.
Matthew left school in 1992 and went on to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art
RADA before starring in roles in the film Enigma and the BBC TV series Spooks.
Museum progress report
After speaking with the mayor, "All Seasons" manager, Adrian Budd has
been informed that the museum opening has been delayed due to considerable
restoration work required on the building. It is had been hoped the museum will be open
fairly soon possibly in September 2005 but after reading the local paper The
Louth Leader it will now open on March 3rd 2006. The museum will be a useful
attraction in Louth and will undoubtedly enthrall tourists and visitors to
Lincolnshire UK when it opens.
Spout Yard wins award A green park in the town centre
will be of particular benefit for the community and visitors to Louth especially
with a riverside walk. Coupled with the opening of museum, the future for
tourism in Louth looks very bright indeed. see spout
yard for more details and review this site often for news on Gatherums
improvements due soon.
Elizabeth Court Development finished
New purpose built apartments with secure entrances have opened
in Church Street, Louth to provide modern dwellings for the elderly. Whilst this
is not a tourist issue in itself, it is welcome facility for the local pensioners
and may involve the opening of a cafe for all to enjoy, tourists included.
The new
development opened in July 2005 and replaces the former Elizabeth Court dwellings
which were built in 1960s.
Jim Broadbent joins the new Louth cinema club
It was refreshing to see the new Louth cinema club being supported by so many
local people when it opened its doors in July2005. Nearly 120 people viewed
the first film "Motor Cycle Diaries" and even more swelled the art
deco cinema "Playhouse" in Louth for the visit of
Jim Broadbent to the screening of "Iris"
